Algorfa also lies alongside the River Segura, just along from Formentera del Segura and Benijófar. Traditionally it was an old farming village and is still flanked by many growing areas today.

There is plenty to do in the area, quality blue flag beaches are just a short drive away. There is the La Pedrera reservoir, where you can find activities such as mountain biking, walking, fishing and other leisure activities.

Two outlying urbanisations, one of which boasts La Finca Algorfa golf club, and another closer to Cuidad Quesada, called Lo Crispin, a smaller more informal urbanisation.

Algorfa holds a market on Sundays.

Ciudad Quesada

Ciudad Quesada is located approximately 8 kilometres inland from the Costa Blanca at Guardamar de la Segura. Although a town in its own right, it is actually part of nearby Rojales.

The main town is served well with an eclectic mix of small shops and boutiques, bars and eating establishments - many of these can be found just through 'the arches'. You will also find 10 pin bowling, bowling, crazy golf, a nearby water-park, gymns, and even good old fish and chips!

The town predominantly caters for the British, but you'll find other nationalities too.

The La Marquesa golf course is also nearby, as well as plenty of choice of other courses for the golfing fanatics among you.

Guardamar del Segura

The seaside town of Guardamar del Segura has historically played the role of guardian of the river Segura. The town even has a castle perched up on the hill overlooking the sea. The shoreline is made up of a range of sand dunes, with shady pine forests, and long golden beaches.

The town also has some good parks where you can find a shady spot out of the strong daytime sun - The parks are Reina Sofia (Queen Sofia) and Alfonso XIII - you'll find lots of wildlife within, ducks, squirrels, and even turtles.

For those that are after an activity or two, you'll be spoilt for choice with fishing, water sports, sailing, football, basketvall, tennis, padel, a sizeable municipal pool if the sea isn't enough for you and much more.

Very popular in August with holiday makers from Madrid.

The restaurants along the paseo (promenade) by the central beach offer fresh fish and sea-food at pocket friendly prices.

As with most large towns, there are a plethora of shops, outdoor market stalls, and good night life. The local fiestas are usually some of the best around; being a large town, they are often more extravagant than the smaller ones.

La Marina

La Marina is a small coastal village on the Costa Blanca, though the nearby large, well established urbanisation of La Marina takes its name but is actually in the due restriction of San Fulgencio. You can find both located between Santa Pola and Alicante to the north, Guardamar and Torrevieja to the south.

The village has a range of shops, bars, banks etc. and has a regular bus service north and south along the coast.

The urbanisation is also served well by the full normal range of services associated with a town.

The local beach of La Marina stretches sfrom Santa Pola almost down to Guardamar.

The nearby pine woods are a perfect spot, and popular with holiday makers for picnic gatherings from late afternoon to late into the evenings. You'll also still find people using the beach and sea into the evenings too, when it is much cooler but the sea is still gloriously warm.

Though not exclusive to La Marina, the renting of bicycles, walking across the dunes, horse riding and enjoying the natural environment is a favourite pastime.

A short car journey will also take you to nearby Torrevieja, Alicante and Murcia and the villages of San Fulgencio, La Marina-Pueblo, Rojales, Almoradí, Crevillente, Dolores and Catral are all worth a visit, where you can take a stroll in the historical and charming old towns, drive along rural roads, past oranges and lemon groves and call into a local artesan store.

La Mata

Torre La Mata or simply La Mata is a small town located 5 km northeast of Torrevieja along the Costa Blanca, in the province of Alicante in southeast Spain. The town is often regarded as a dormitory suburb of Torrevieja.

Torre (also found in the place name Torrevieja) means tower, and the ancient tower you can find in Torre de La Mata was rebuilt in 14th century which was used in the Middle Ages to warn the local inhabitants of impending attacks by pirates!

You will also find the natural park/reserve of Lagunas de La Mata (salt lakes) where you can enjoy good walking and picnic-ing.

There is a long paseo along the coast, and if you wish you can walk as far as Torrevieja which is an adjoining resort.

Orihuela Costa

The Orihuela Costa covers a large area, spanning from Torrevieja on the coast all the way up to Campoamor. There are many urbanisations, with housing available right on the coast to a little inland. It is a busy hustling and bustling area with a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and bars.

This part of the Costa Blanca also boasts a new shopping centre at La Zenia, which is one of the largest in the area.

Areas include Punta Prima, Cabo Roig, Playa Flamenca, La Florida, Villa Martin, La Zenia, Campoamor, La Regia, and quite a few more besides.

Rojales is a typical Spanish town but with a village feel. The River Segura runs through the centre of town. There are the artisan caves, some of which are homes. The town takes in a large area with many popular urbanisations nearby such as Benimar II and Ciudad Quesada to name two. The residential area is very attractive with pretty gardens and river walks.

You can find Rojales, just inland from the coastal area of Guardamar del Segura on the southern Costa Blanca.

The town is served well with a variety of small shops and larger supermarkets. There are ample typical Spanish bars and restaurants, some of which serve tapas. There are also other international offerings. The town has banks, a theatre, museum, municipal sports areas, a church, cave houses where artisans practice and sell their art.

Like most Spanish towns and villages there is always plenty going on, the Moors and Christians Fiesta at the end of June and beginning of July is one of the best in the area.

For locally grown fresh fruit and veg. and other items, the town has its own market every Thursday.

For the young, or young at heart, at the Los Palacios end of town, there are lively bars and discos trading over the weekend into the early hours; known affectionately as disco alley!

Torrevieja is situated on the Costa Blanca. It is a coastal town, approximately 40 minutes south of Alicante airport and a similar distance to Murcia airport.

The main town itself, has a mixture of coastal holiday apartments, but there is also a large resident community. There are some hotels too, it is a popular area with holidaying Spaniards. There are plenty of urbanisations that make up the larger Torrevieja area, all within walking distance of the town, well served by beaches, restaurants, bars, shops, markets and countless other leisure activities.

Beaches include La Mata, Los Locos, El Cura, El Acequión and Los Náufragos.

There is a popular promenade in the centre, lined with excellent bars, restaurants and shops.

The aqua park (Aquópolis) is a popular destination during the summer months, catering across the board for all types of visitor.

From the marina area you can enjoy a coastline trip, or even ferry across to Tabarca for the day.
